England Barimo
Sideburn Run
England Barimo is Sideburn Run s assistant coach this year This is England's third year as an assistant coach. She has been a diving Shark for the past five years. England is a 2010 graduate of Robinson Secondary School, where she was a dive team member and lettered all four years. She also dives at Dominion Dive Club on the J.O. team. England is not diving because she is recovering from knee surgery, and when the season ends, she will head to Virginia Tech and plans to join the dive team.
Catherine Braunlich
Hayfield Farms
Catherine Braunlich has spent countless years swimming and diving for NVSL. She started when she was five for the Virginia Hills Swim Team, but eventually moved to Hayfield Farms where she continued to swim, and joined the dive team. After a few seasons on the Seahawks dive team, Catherine quit swim to focus on dive, competing for York and Patriot Dive Clubs over the next few years. She was a part of the Hayfield High School dive team, as captain her junior and senior year and qualifying for regionals her junior and senior years. Catherine's favorite aspect of dive, however, is coaching and she has been a Seahawk coach for the last few years. She will continue her education at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to study music education with a focus in the piano, but plans to return to NVSL as a coach in upcoming summers.
James Clement
Mantua
James Clement, a June 2010 graduate of Trinity School at Meadow View, has been diving at Mantua since he was 6 years old. He has competed in All-Stars many times and has won the coveted Dive Team Shannon Award in 2005. James would especially like to thank the Bergman and the Pripeton families for their dedication to the dive team and the fun and spirit of the sport. While competing for the team has been a great experience, James is most grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the coaching team at Mantua for the past three summers and for lasting friendships. During the school year, James has played soccer, works hard in school and is dedicated to working out at the gym. In August, he heads off to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Kelly Crider
Cardinal Hill
Kelly graduated from George C. Marshall High School with the class of 2010. She has been a member of the Cardinal Hill dive team for the past 8 years and has received the High Pointer award, Jeff Tozer Memorial Award as well as the Coaches award for the Cardinals. She also was a member of the Marshall Varsity Swim and Dive team for four years and served as a Captain. In high school, Kelly graduated with 13 varsity letters and received post season honors in field hockey, tennis, and lacrosse helping to name her Marshall's Female Athlete of the year. She was back to back DECA state champion as well as an active member of FCA and Best Buddies and will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall to study business and Spanish.
Cam Ellis
Sleepy Hollow Recreation Association
Cam Ellis has been a member of the SHRA dive team for 10 years. During that time he has successfully competed in many meets and Divisionals. He has been the assistant coach for two years. Cam graduated from Bishop Ireton High School where he was an active member of the swim and dive teams. As a sophomore, he dove at the Virginia State Championship Meet. In the fall, Cam will attend the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
Chloe Grishaw
Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet
Chloe Grishaw has been a member of the SHBR Diving Seals for 10 years. She is currently an assistant coach at SHBR. Chloe graduated from the Potomac School, where she was a member of the swim and dive team serving as team captain for the 2009-2010 swim season. Chloe won the Virginia Independent school state championship in both 2008 and 2010. In addition to diving, Chloe participated in track and field where her specialty was the triple jump, the tennis team, and club gymnastics. Sports were not Chloe's only interests. She was a member of the school orchestra, numerous clubs and community service organizations. Oh yes, she found time to be an honor student Chloe will be attending The College of William and Mary in the fall. Chloe is the recipient of the NVSL's 2010 MacDuff Scholarship..
Nick Guttendorf
Truro
Nick Guttendorf graduated from W.T. Woodson High School. During his time at Woodson, Nick was a four-year varsity letterman in diving, and was named captain and MVP for his senior year. In 2010, Nick finished 3rd in the Patriot District, 6th at Regionals and 6th at Virginia States and also qualified for All-American. At Woodson, Nick participated in student government, leadership, and DECA and played varsity baseball, football, and ultimate frisbee. Nick is a seven-year member of the Truro Dive Team where he played an instrumental role in Truro Dive Team's last six (6) Division One 1st place titles. He has competed in Divisionals, All-Stars, is a former Crackerjack winner & most recently finished 4th at the Wally Martin 3 Meter Meet. Nick has helped coach the Truro Dive Team for 3 years and has also taught tennis at Truro for 3 years. Nick is very fortunate to have had Rob Carvajal as a mentor, friend, and Dive Coach at both W.T. Woodson High School and Truro. Nick will be attending George Mason in the fall, and is excited to be diving and competing at the Division 1 level for GMU and Coach Roland McDonald.
John Kiraly
Commonwealth Swim Club
John Kiraly has been a diver for Commonwealth Swim Club for 11 years, starting when he was six years old. He s been a varsity diver for the Robinson Secondary School for four years and enjoyed helping the Robinson team win multiple State championships. John has been the assistant dive coach for Commonwealth for three years and loves working with the kids. He is headed to Liberty University in the fall to study education and wants to be a middle school history teacher.
Kelly Kitchen
Mansion House
Kelly has been swimming and diving in the NVSL for 12 years. Kelly has been coaching for Mansion House over the past 4 years and is currently an assistant dive coach. She has been to All-Stars for swim and dive over the years. Kelly graduated from Mount Vernon High School with honors in art, business, and education. She was on the varsity swim & dive and lacrosse teams for all 4 years making all-district in both sports during her junior and senior years. In the fall, Kelly will be attending Lynchburg College where she plans to play Lacrosse.
Sean McKinney
Woodley
Sean joined the North Springfield Swim and Dive teams in 1997 (he was 6 years old). He went to All Stars as a swimmer at age 12 and that happened to be the last year he swam for the team. He decided to focus his efforts on diving and went to US Junior Nationals the very next year representing Patriot Dive Team. Sean was an assistant dive coach at NSSC for 3 years and Wakefield Chapel for one year. He was offered a job at Woodley as a head coach in 2009. He has been diving and coaching at Woodley for the last two years Sean has been an All Star and Wally Martin Champion several times. He has also been a competitor in many US Junior National and AAU National events. He was the 1 meter AAU National champion as a 14-15 year old. In 2009, he competed at US Senior Nationals. Sean graduated from Annandale High School with honors. He was Captain of the Annandale dive team, an All American Diver and an All American Academic Award recipient. Sean attained the rank of Eagle Scout and is known as an entrepreneur and car enthusiast. He runs his own auto detailing business. Sean will be diving in the SEC for LSU. He plans to study business and finance.
Lulu Moore
Cardinal Hill
Catalina Lulu Moore has been diving with Cardinal Hill Dive team since she was seven years old. She has helped younger divers, yells like mad for her teammates and has competed at Divisionals. She is a 2010 graduate of Bishop O Connell High School in Arlington. Lulu was on O Connell s dive team for two years. For the last two summers, she has worked as a Lifeguard at Cardinal Hill. In the fall, she will be attending James Madison University, majoring in elementary education. She thanks her parents, her coaches, her teammates, Mrs. Shelton, Mrs. Stahl, Jen McCarthy and her friend Kelly Crider for all the support and wonderful summers together.
Ian Mostrom
North Springfield
Ian Mostrom has been on the North Springfield Dolphin Dive Team for 10 years. His favorite dive is his front flip full twist and his fondest memory is FINALLY learning that front one-and-a-half, thanks to Coach Daniel! Over his 10 years of diving, Ian has earned numerous awards, including Most Improved, Points Earned, New Dive, and the Coaches Award. Of special note was when he received the coveted John M. Horgan Memorial Diving Award for demonstrating superior attitude, sportsmanship, and leadership qualities in 2006 as an Intermediate diver. Ian attended Annandale High School where he was on the Varsity Dive Team all four years, lettering in his Freshman and Senior Years. He was also recognized as a Scholar Athlete all four years and was one of the Top Ten graduating seniors at Annandale with a final GPA of 4.2. Ian is most known for his hard work, respect for others, and passion for diving. He is attending George Mason University in the Honors College this fall, and is looking forward to diving on their club or intramural team.
Brynn Rollo
Orange Hunt
Brynn began her NVSL diving career at the age of six. By seven, she was a Crackerjack Champion and began to dive competitively year round. After moving to Massachusetts, she gained the most first place finishes in a calendar year to be awarded New England Junior Olympic Diver of the Year, presented by Olympic Coach Ron O Brien. At the age of 10, Brynn was chosen to represent the U.S. in an international competition held in Ottawa, Canada. She placed 4th on both the 1M and the 3M at the U.S. All Star Junior Challenge where the United States team took first place. Brynn has been an assistant and then a head coach for Orange Hunt Swim Club for the past 5 years. She currently holds all the club s girl diving records. She also had a very successful high school career, earning several District Champion titles as well as being a member of Robinson s State Champion Swim and Dive Team. As a Junior Olympic diver, Brynn has consistently competed at a National level. She trains with Tim Fisher for Alexandria Dive Club. She was recruited by George Mason University and is excited to join their Division I team, coached by Roland McDonald.
John Trope
Rolling Hills:
John Trope as been diving in NVSL since he was 4 years old. He won All-Stars as a Freshman Diver in 2002 and Senior All-Stars in 2008 and 2009. John currently holds Rolling Hills 1M dive record as an Intermediate with the score of 205.06 and as a Senior with the score of 285.25. He also holds the record for 3M with a score of 251.01. As a High School Diver, John holds all of West Springfield HS diving records. He placed 3rd in the State and acheived All American status. He also dove on the Junior Olympic Team for Dominion Dive Club. This Fall, John will be diving for Virginia Tech.
